Hope Shoebox Appeal
The families in Attymon N.S. took part in the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal this year. The children brought in shoeboxes filled with Christmas presents to send to more needy children. The hope team collect the boxes and in the receiving country their network of partners will deliver it right into a child’s hands – in hospitals, schools, shelters, churches, orphanages, community centres or family homes.
We hope this small gesture will help to spread the Chrismas joy to children everywhere.

Shared Reading
Shared reading is in progress within the school. As part of the shared reading program the senior and junior classes work together in a fun and relaxed way to enhance literacy for all. We read to the junior children. The junior children pick out a book and we will read the story for them and will ask them questions.
It makes us think and is challenging, but we enjoy working hard and learning from each other.
It is lots of fun too!!
Halloween fun
We had great fun getting dressed up for Halloween. The teachers even had a Halloween party for us. We played games, bobbed for apples and had some Halloween treats. It was a lovely day. Check out our Halloween video on the video page.
Killimordaly hurling club - 100 years and now county champions!!
Our local hurlers - the Killimordaly intermediate team came to our school. We made green and white head band to support them in the final. They did us proud and won!! Some of the players who were past pupils of the school returned with the county cup. We got to hold the cup and they signed our jerseys and hurls. There were 6 past pupils part of the winning team and one of the selectors was also a past pupil. They thanked the school and the teachers for a great start in life. A great day was had by all. Who knows maybe some day we too can become local heroes.
Our school Garden
Our school garden is blooming with the help of Kay Synnot. She came to our school to help us make a willow dale out of willows. All the school got involved in helping out and the children in the junior class planted bulbs for the winter in our garden. Some of the Mammies came ready for work and were an invaluable help. We all worked together and it was a great success. We enjoy working outside and are lucky to have such lovely grounds around our school.
Trip to Baboro and B.E.A.S.T
We attended Baboro and B.E.A.S.T on friday 19 october. We attended B.E.A.S.T first in the interactive center in Galway A scientist called Sadhbh Baxter had come to our school and told us about life under the sea and the food chain. It was great to see our snail lights, which we had made at school, with the help of artist Tom Meskell, displayed at the centre. At baboro the junior classes saw a play called "Spraoi" and the senior classes saw "Catch me". Both plays were enjoyed by us all. We love getting involved in community events in our county.
