• Athletics
• Dance

The children in Attymon NS are starting the PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety) programme. They will be completing this programme prior to starting their swimming lessons in Coral Leisure, Ballinasloe.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY (PA)
Physical Activity is promoted in a fun, positive and inclusive way in Attymon NS. The children engage in physical activity outdoors through the Run Around Ireland Challenge, Climb the Heights Challenge, Skipping, Jumping, Walks for Halloween, Christmas and Easter. We also take part in Bike Week and Active Schools Week which aim to promote physical activity.
Classroom-based physical activity breaks are also a great way to break up sedentary time and to restore concentration and focus. We use Bizzy Breaks, Go Noodle and many more resources to get the children moving.

Run Around Ireland Challenge
All the children in Attymon NS are taking part in the run around Ireland Challenge. Active School Flag encourages ALL schools to commit to the 4-week ‘Run Around IRELAND’ challenge during the spring/summer term.
- It is a great way for pupils to learn about Ireland’s most famous landmarks, and to bring learning outdoors.
- It supports the Athletics strand of the PE curriculum and gives pupils the opportunity to develop good running technique.
- This challenge is also one of the key criteria for schools working towards ASF.
PARTNERSHIPS
Active School Flag (ASF) schools work in partnership with others to promote a physically active school community. We promote physical activity through GAA coaching in hurling and camogie, swimming in Coral Leisure Ballinasloe and inviting parents to take part in events such as Bike Week. Attymon NS also promote physical activity in other areas such as the Green Schools and Discover Primary Science Programmes.
