Proclamation Day
.On March 15th, we celebrated Proclamation Day in our school. On this day, we, along with every other school in the country, were invited to raise the Irish flag and to commemorate the events of the 1916 Rising. We put a lot of work into our day, and had a fantastic time showing the community all the activities we had been involved in. We raised the Irish flag outside, with all the school as well as members of our community present. We were very lucky to have a beautiful blue sky as we raised the flag and sang Amhrán na bhFiann. We then invited everybody inside to watch our performance of 'A Triumph of All Sorts' by Damian White. We sang some songs, including 'Grace' by Joseph Plunkett, and 'The Foggy Dew'. We also had some brillant Irish dancing. After our play, we had a very special party, in which we enjoyed lots of yummy green, white and gold foods, and showed off all the projects that we have done in the last few months. Thank you very much to everybody who came and helped out. We had a fantastic day.
Well done girls!

Christmas has come to Attymon N.S
We have spent the last few weeks decorating the school for Christmas and doing Christmas art and activities. The tree is twinkling in the hall, the windows are painted with Christmas scenes and the school is full of Christmas cheer. We are rehearsing hard for our Christmas play.
Merry Christmas everyone! Nollaig Shona Daoibh go Léir!

1916 Flag Ceremony
On November 30th we were presented with our Irish flag. Two soldiers came to our school to present it to us. We showed them our history projects on the 1916 Easter Rising. We helped them to read some of the Proclamation and we sang Amhrán na bhFiann. We also asked them about what it is like in the army, as well as some questions about the 1916 Rising. It was very interesting. The soldiers presented us with two copies of the Proclamation; one in English and one as Gaeilge. They also presented us with an Irish flag and a booklet on flag protocall. We will raise this flag on Proclamation Day on March 15th 2016, along with every other school in Ireland.
