Graduation Mass & Recorder Concert
On Thursday, we had our graduation mass and recorder performance. The recorder performance was a great success and Fr McMahon gave a lovely sermon. He presented the sixth class children with graduation certificates and relics. Ms Cannon put together a slideshow of photographs of the children's time in Attymon N.S.

Flag Raising Ceremony
Attymon N.S raised not one but two flags on Friday 13th. The school raised its first Active flag and an energy flag. The staff and pupils worked very hard towards both initatives and were excited to share this day with their parents and the local community. Also present at our flag ceremony were Lorraine Ryan, Brian Burke, Joe Raftery and Minister for Training and Skills at the Department of Education and Skills Ciaran Cannon. The Active Flag was raised by Lorraine Ryan, Brian Burke and Joe Raftery. Minister Ciaran Cannon raised our Energy Flag. Afterwards we had some light refreshments.
Awards in Attymon 2014
Attymon N.S has been very successful throughout the year. We have recently been awarded our second Green for energy, our first Active Flag and our first Discover Primary Science and Maths award. The staff and parents are very proud of the children's achievements throughout the year and look forward to many more in the future.
Aerobics with Mary
Thank you Mary for teaching us Aerobics on Friday. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Tayto Park School Tour
We visited Tayto Park on our school tour. We completed various activities in the Adventure area like rockclibing,zip-lining rodeo bull and bouncers. We also visited Tayto Zoo. We found out how crisps are made in the Tayto factory. We had a delicious lunch and played in the playground. A fun day was had by both staff and children.Take a look at our slideshow!
Penalty Shootout in aid of GOAL.
Well done to the the winners of the penalty shoot out. We raised €62 in aid of GOAL. Maura Lennon from GOAL came to speak to us about the work that GOAL do. We thank her for donating the T-shirts, wristbands and bracelets to the school.
Attymon N.S in Hurling Final!
Well done to the children in the senior classroom. They will travel to Loughgeorge on Tuesday, June 10th for the 5-a-side Cumann na mBunscol hurling final. The children played against Raheen N.S., Kilrickle N.S. and Gurteen N.S. in Killimordaly Hurling Pitch on Thursday the 22nd of May. Attymon N.S. and Gurteen N.S. will play each other in the final in Loughgeorge.
Presentation of the Green Schools Flag for Energy
Today, Tuesday the 20th of May, some children from the green schools committee and Mrs Hardiman, travelled to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway for the Green Flag Awards Ceremony. When we got there we were given a bag each and told to go and have a look around and take some photos. There were many other schools there from County Galway. They then began the presentation ceremony starting with the schools that were getting their first green flag for litter and waste. We were the first school to be called out to receive our award for the Energy theme. All three of us got to go up and receive the flag and certificate. We felt very proud of our committee and our school. After the presentation of the flag we got a sit down lunch. There was lots of nice food and we really enjoyed the day out!

Tablet Technology comes to Attymon N.S.
We are absolutely delighted with the new Microsoft Surface RT tablets that we got recently for the school. With the help of these tablets we can now research project topics online, use the educational apps and even save information on to a memory stick. It is of benefit to us to be comfortable with using these devices as many of the secondary schools use these regularly.

There will be a bake sale on Friday the 14th of March in Attymon N.S from 1pm to 3pm
All baked donations welcome as the proceeds raised from this bake sale will go towards funding our Active School Week. There will also be a raffle with great prizes that day. Tickets cost 2 euro for one strip and 5 euro for 3 strips. The prizes will be on display in the front hall during the week.

Foróige Concert
The annual Foróige concert will be held in Killtullagh Community Hall this Friday 7th of March. The concert will be begin at 8 o'clock. Your support will be much appreciated.
Valentines Day 2014
Ms Kilroy and children made some delicious cookies and a chocolate cakes. The first and second class baked the cookies. The junior and senior infants decorated the cookies. The senior classes made a beautiful heart shaped chocolate cake.

Athenry Credit Union Table Quiz 2014
Well done to the U11 table quiz team who participated in the Athenry Credit Union table quiz which took place in the Vocational School, Athenry on Sunday the 2nd of February. They did very well and the school is very proud of them.
Teddy Bear Hospital
The junior room has been invited to the Teddy Bear Hospital in NUIG on 24th of January (Friday). On arrival at the Teddy Bear Hospital on campus, the children will go to the ‘waiting room’, which contains jugglers and face painters. Then the children and their teddy bears are seen by a team of Teddy Doctors and Teddy Nurses, who will examine them. The students will have specially designed X-ray and MRI machines on hand, should the teddy bears need them. Those in need of minor surgery will be stitched up by members of the sewing society present on the day.
Recuperating teddy bears can avail of medical supplies from the Teddy Bear Pharmacy, stocked with healthy fruit from Total Produce, along with medical supplies from Matt O’Flaherty and Boots to help poor teddy recover.
The children visited the Teddy Bear Hospital on Friday 24th. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children and the teddy bear are recuperating to full health again.

Christmas Walk
The children,parents and staff of Attymon N.S completed a Christmas Walk from Margies on the 20th of December. Thank you to all involved.
Explorers Education Programme
The children of Attymon were awarded certificates for their participation in the Explorers Education Programme 2013.The programme aimed to raise awareness and interest in Ireland's marine resource,oceans and seashores through cross curricular lessons and activities..
Galway Aquarium
The children visited the aquarium as part of their Discover Primary Science and Maths application in December.
This visit was in conjunction with the Explorers Education Programme. The visit was thoroughly enjoyed by all pupils and staff.

Our Local Sportstar Joe
Jackie and Joe came to visit our school today. Joe and Jackie are part of the Skylark Community in Athenry. Jackie spoke to us about the Special Olympic and Joe's achievements in golf. The senior room prepared questions for Joe and Jackie. Joe told us a lot about his experiences in competing at Olympic level.We are very proud to have had such inspiring people in our school today.

Go Games.
Our annual go-games will take place in Killimordaly hurling pitch at 11 am tomorrow, Friday the 7th of November. The children in the senior classroom only will be participating in the games with 3 other schools. This is always a fun and enjoyable event and parents are welcome to come and watch. Lets hope the weather stays dry! Come prepared!
Halloween in Attymon N.S 2013
The children of Attymon celebrated Halloween on Friday 25th October. We began the school day with a Halloween Walk from Margies with the children's parents. We then sang our Halloween songs. All classes came together to have a Halloween party. We ate some báirín breac and cnónna. We really enjoyed our party. Take a look at our slideshow.
Babaró 2013
On Friday 18th October 2013 we visited the Blackbox and participated in a fun concert with Tom Chapin. We then went to the Babaro exploratorium. We split up into different groups.

On Wednesday 25th of September Lorraine Ryan, Kevin Kelly and Frank Duane visited our school.
Lorraine Ryan is the captain of the All-Ireland winning Senior Camogie team. She brought the O'Duffy cup with her. Some parents came too. We took loads of photos . We really enjoyed her visit. Take a look at the Senior Page for an interview with Lorraine Ryan.
