Step 1 : Science
6 Hands on Science Investigations
1 Living things:
We investigated how our heart rate got faster after exercise.
First we felt our heart rate while we were resting. We counted the beats at our wrist/neck to find how many beats per minute it was.
Next we got up and did some exercise for 5 minutes and then we sat down and felt our pulses again. Our heart rate had increased dramatically. We checked our pulses again shortly after to see how long it would take them to return to normal.
We also got to see our pulses move using a straw and some blu-tack. We were able to see the straw move on our arm as the blood flowed. It was very interesting.
We learned lots!
